During his journey, he meets Athos, Porthos and Aramis, three brave Musketeers, with whom he experiences a thousand adventures, always in conflict with Cardinal Richelieu’s guards and their Machiavellian plans. D’Artagnan’s love for Constance Bonacieux, chambermaid to Queen Anne of Austria, gives rise to the central episode of the novel, followed by others full of intrigues, passions, deeds of arms and adventures in one of the most interesting and conflictive periods in the history of France.
