The first release in the new Series 'Fairy Tales' of the Lithuanian Mint was struck from one ounce of 99,9 % silver and is dedicated to the childhood fairy tale "Blue Fairy Tale". The motive features a young girl in color, falling down into a fantasy world. She is surrounded by books, a globe and many other symbols of the world of fantasy creatures. The reverse depitcs the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the denomination, surrounded by magical emblems of the fairy tale. "Blue Fairy Tale" tells a story about a young girl, who falls into a fantasy world of her own creation. On her journey she meets talking animals and various magical creatures. Fantasy worlds give us an outlet for the problems from everyday life and let us forget our worries for a brief moment. The fairy tale reflects the contrast between the carefree nature of children and the stressful everyday life of adults. To further capture the idea of the fantasy world, the packaging was designed in a checkerboard pattern.
