The coins have an exceptionally low mintage of just 999 per design. The images are struck on ultra-high relief blanks with an antique polish that gives them the appearance of ancient coinage.Written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the Hound of Baskervilles appeared in the Strand Magazine from 1901 to 1902 and is set in Englands West Country. It tells the story of an attempted murder inspired by the legend of a mythical hound from supernatural origins.The obverse of the 2018 1 oz Republic of Chad Hound of Baskervilles Silver Coin features the coat of arms for the Republic of Chad in the center. There is a moon centered above the coat of arms with two massive paws reaching around to encompass the seal. Each of the paws has six claws for a total of 12 to represent all 12 animals in the Zodiac. The reverse features a most diabolical depiction of the Hound of Baskerville is stunning high relief and lustrous antique finish.
