Wildlife is one of the oldest subjects in coinage and remains one of the most demanding. Fur, feather and scale are unforgiving of a shallow strike, which is why so many animal issues are given high relief or antiqued treatments that let the detail read.

These are themed issues rather than licensed ones. No studio owns a snow leopard, so the mint answers only to its own engravers, and the results are often the most technically ambitious pieces in a catalogue.
