I Wonder What My Fortune Cookie Says

This is the second Carl Barks serigraph produced by the Carl Barks Studios.

Created  for the 1997 Orlando Disneyana Convention, the edition size was only 295 pieces in the regular edition.

Hand-signed by Carl Barks (1901-2000) and also the COA is hand signed.

This is the ONLY painting featuring Magica DeSpell which was ever produced as a serigraph.
It is also the ONLY painting released as a lithograph or serigraph where Magica DeSpell plays a lead role.

"I just finished a new oil painting of Uncle Scrooge's money bin. It is my first painting featuring Magica De Spell. Magica has delivered Chinese food to Uncle Scrooge in disguise," Mr. Barks explained. "She has a huge firecracker lit [in the food]. As she takes off her disguise, Uncle Scrooge says 'Wonder What My Fortune Cookie Says?,' which is the title of this painting." (1996 Pop Art Time article by Jacquie Kubin) As described in the article, Barks then continued, saying that the character Magica is extremely popular in Italy, as she lives on Mt. Vesuvius, south of Rome.

"Seri-graph" is a popular term for "silk-screen."  This silk-screen is made of 53 colors.  The photographic transparency is used only to determine size and shapes.  Each color is hand applied and allowed one day to dry.  The process is done by a team of five people.  We are proud that the colors on this silk-screen are "hand pulled" by experts, without the use of mechanics or machinery.
